About the Swamp Rabbit Trail Guide
The Swamp Rabbit Trail Guide is a free, interactive map of the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville County, South Carolina. It runs in your browser. There is no app to install, no account to create, and nothing behind a paywall.
What the map shows
The guide covers the trail corridor from Travelers Rest through downtown Greenville and south toward Conestee and Fountain Inn, including:
- Trailheads, parking areas, and access points
- Restrooms and water fountains
- Bike shops, rental locations, and repair stations
- Coffee shops, restaurants, and breweries near the trail
- Parks, playgrounds, and points of interest along the route
- Mileage markers and distances between points
Everything is searchable and works on a phone while you are out riding or walking.
Why it exists
The trail is one of the best things about living here, and the information about it was scattered across a county PDF, a handful of blog posts, and local knowledge that nobody had written down. I ride the trail regularly, so I built the map I wanted to have in my pocket. Then I put it online for free because it is more useful that way.
Who runs it
The guide is built and maintained by one person. I live in the Greenville area, I ride the trail most weeks, and I update the map as things change. Businesses open and close, detours come and go, construction moves things around. If you find something out of date or missing, let me know at coreybgroce@gmail.com and I will fix it.
How it stays free
Running the map costs money. Map tile storage, hosting, and the domain add up to a real monthly bill, and keeping the data current takes time.
If the map saved you a trip back to the car or helped you find a bathroom at mile six, you can leave a tip. Tips are completely optional and go toward hosting costs and continued updates.
To be clear about what a tip is and is not: this is not a charity, a nonprofit, or a fundraiser. Tipping does not unlock anything. There is no premium version, no members-only layer, no ad-free tier, and nothing gets shipped to you. Everyone gets the same full map whether they tip or not. A tip is just a thank you from someone who already got the thing for free, and the site works exactly the same if you never leave one.
Data and credits
Base map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors. Trail alignment and amenity locations are verified against Greenville County Recreation information and my own trips along the corridor. Errors are mine, and I would rather hear about them than not.
